i am in need of some creative help...
caedmon is about to turn the big 6. and he is requesting a "magic" themed birthday party.
we don't promote crazy, sorcerer magic here, but a good ol' card trick here and there, we love.
here's my problem.
everything i've found online is all cheesy.
exhibit A:
my BFF probably used this stuff at her 13th birthday party.
she probably had this guy there too...
anyways.
moving on.
my thoughts thus far:
chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and a bunny topper (so it's like the bunny coming out of the magic hat).
chocolate covered pretzels as "magic wands".
and that's all i got.
you can see why i need your help.
and can i officially say that i'm sad that i can no longer plan cute parties anymore for him?
no more making him excited about a theme i was already planning 4 months earlier.
dang.
good thing i have 3 smaller children.
help!

are you doing party favours? you could include a deck of cards and a copy of instructions for a card trick.
ReplyDeleteYou can decorate with red, gold and black, or black, blue and silver. . .
ReplyDeleteWould magic potions for drinks be too sorcerer? You know like sherbet and gingerale or however you make it. . . maybe some dry ice. . .
Plastic hats upside down as dip bowls for chips or veggies, or fruit. . .
magic chocolate fountain. . .
You need the magic candles :)
Really is a tough one! GOOD LUCK!!
Oh I just saw a magic drink idea. Get colored cups, put a couple drops of food coloring at the bottom (same color as cup) and ice on top. . . then when you pour on sprite or clear drink, it magically changes color :)
random ideas/activities- make top hats from construction paper for the kids to wear (or they could make them at the party), pin the rabbit on the hat game, who can think of the best magic word, colorwonder markers are kind of like magic since they only work on certain paper.
ReplyDeletethis is all my brain will allow me to think of right now. hope you have a great party!
LOW BLOW. i'll admit, i was nerdy at 13...but not that nerdy.
ReplyDeletei will get you back. you just wait...i'm gonna getcha.
idea: get a real rabbit and let it snack on the veggie tray on top of the table while the party is going on. don't worry about the rabbit turds, it will look like confetti.
White gloves (hardware or paint department), packs of cards with his picture/party logo glued to them, coin candies for coin tricks, handkerchiefs to pull out of sleeves, plastic flowers...hmmmm I'm sure he'll love whatever you come up with...it'll be great!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSo one of my complaints with pregnancy (and me) is I wake up at night with my mind racing. Normally it's things like "what the heck are we going to name this baby? What color do I want to paint the walls?" Last night it was about my last comment :)
ReplyDeleteHere's how it went down. . .
1. That's dumb to have the food coloring the same color as the cup. It should be different colors so you can actually see the color.
2. That's dumb to use food coloring. If any of it spilled. . . yikes.
3. Smoking punch way better idea, but magic potions little too witch craft.
4. Call it abracadabra punch. You know like the poof of smoke after you say abracadabra :) It works.
5. Little pigs in a blanket made out of cocktail weiners could be cute. Shrunken hotdogs.
6. Or pizza on english muffins, pizza that has been magically shrunk.
There you have it. The ramblings of my brain last night :)
what about a treasure hunt? I know it's not magic, but kids LOVE them! it could lead to his main gift? my daughters love doing them!
ReplyDeleteask him exactly what he meant my magic?
maybe try to get him to change his mind by coming up with something he just can't resist?! I am no help! tara
Randomly came across this website today:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.celebrations.com/birthdayparty?sort=first
Didn't find anything specific to magic (atleast not at first glance) but I thought maybe it'd be useful for some ideas or future use.
Hope it's helpful!
Enjoy celebrating your little man!
Hmm... maybe it could be more of a "science magic" party - with fun "science experiments" - like making flubber and stuff like that. ??
ReplyDeleteThat would be fun
