the details.

we are humbled and grateful for all of your encouraging words, about our big news!
for those of you who have been through the process of adoption, you know how up and down the process can be, so to have the support of our friends and family (and yes, even our internet friends) really means so much to us.
so, thank YOU for that.

so, i know ya'll are dying to hear details, and we wish we could tell you every detail.
but for certain reasons, details can't be given just yet.
just know that there is a little girl, half a world away, waiting for us.
and she fits in perfectly with our family.

we started this process back in march.
a friend and her family, decided to adopt a sweet, baby boy...that got my heart moving.
she then connected me with this video.
mr. anderson and i always knew we would adopt one day.
but we honestly thought we'd adopt a little chinese girl...she would fit right in our little family.
never, in a million years, would i have said ethiopia.
but after watching that video...and reading those statistics...my heart really moved.
and so did mr. anderson's heart.
"how could we not adopt?"  were his exact words.
so, with a 6 year old, 4 year old, 2 year old and 5 month old, we started the paperwork to add one more to our family.

even still, as i type this, it sounds crazy.
we have so many children already.
will we have enough room in our house?
we will most likely need a new car.  (5 kids in car seats---duggar van, anyone?)
travel to africa, twice?  i hate to fly.
financially, it seems impossible.
but, we know God will provide.
these are His kids, and we feel honored that He has chosen us to take on one more little person.
half a world away.

so, we invite you to sit back and watch us take this journey.
in addition, we will be having some fundraising, donating, etc. going on.
later today, a donate button will be set up on the side of our blog.
please know that we aren't trying to get money from you.
i just know that some people like to help, so it's there and available if you're so inclined.

i am also opening up ad space...if you're interested in advertising your shop/blog, on my blog, then email me for info.  emilymaeanderson@gmail.com
all money from ad space will go straight to our ethiopian fund.  woot.
thanks for joining us in this!

if we can inspire even one family to take the journey to adoption as well, then that's all that matters.
i leave you with a quote (from the video) that really inspired me:

i am only one, but still i am one.
i cannot do everything, but still i can do something;
and because i cannot do everything,
i will not refuse to do
the something i can do.
{helen keller}

is God calling YOU to do something?

  1. You and Mr. Anderson are such amazing people. To do something so selfless and humbling is extraordinary. And although I, myself may not be of much financial help as I am only 15 years old, I will most definitely spread the word and help you and your family bring your daughter home. May God be with you on every step of this amazing journey to the homecoming of your 5th child!

  6. Are you adopting from the same place? It looks like they are loved by their caregivers so that's a plus :) I have two friends that adopted through Reeses Rainbow (for kids with disabilities. . . both girls have down syndrome)One from Ukraine, one from Russia. Their orphanage pictures break my heart. Made me want to take them all home.

Here are their stories from when they were adopting.

I have a quick question..i believe you have had a previous post regarding this but I cannot locate it right now. In your post fire trucks, power rangers etc. the second pic has collage pics you have hung in your house. where did you create these at? I am trying to make some for my home and its not working out right. Did you use picasa and where did you get them printed at? thanks so much!!!

  12. oh my goodness!!! i havent even watched the video and i want to adopt!!! I lived and worked at an orphanage in india for a year so ANYONE that adopts internationally wins me over!! you are wonderful for doing this!!

  13. That is so exciting! I just happened upon your blog and it was such a God thing. My husband and I feel called to adopt a baby one day and we believe He is preparing us for His time. We know 3 other families that have just brought their children home from Ethiopia in the last year! One of them has the most amazing Gotcha video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duyL9UjLrdM. For some reason, I was unable to click on the link in your post to the other video...would you repost it or send it to me? I would love to see it! Good luck with the whole process and lots of prayers!

  14. love it, love it, love it. kinda teared up there reading that. i just can't wait to meet her and for all our kids to grow up together.

    God is incredible.

  15. WOW! I wish you and your family all the best...what an amazing wonderful thing you are doing.

  16. LOVE that quote from helen keller. this gave me goosebumps for your family. i can't wait! i'm gonna go watch the video now!!!

  17. New to your blog, and I just want to tell you that you have a beautiful family! Congratulations on the adoption process! That's so exciting!

  18. OH MY GOSH!! I go away on vacation & all this exciting stuff happens, lol. Congrats to you and your family on your newest member of the family. My thoughts and prayers are with you thru your adoption process. Having had some family adopt children I know how rough it can get at times, but the reward of giving a child such a wonderful family and home makes it all worth it!

  19. Congratulations. A friend of mine follows your blog and told me to check it out. We are also adopting from Ethiopia. We are days away from submitting our dossier!
Something that God spoke to me as He told us to adopt was that He wanted me to enjoy the process. I have continually thought of that along the way. Much like life, we aren't just waiting for our eternal home, we are enjoying our experience on earth. I pray that your experience with the craziness of the paperwork will be an enjoyable experience! - Rosetta

  20. Congrats to your ET adoption. My husband and I are in process of finishing our dossier for a little one in ET. God will provide for you and your family to bring your babe home.
