made with love monday: DIY monogrammed frame.

welcome to made with love monday!
i'm so excited for this series to get started.

each year, when christmas season rolls around, i vow to make all handmade gifts...but always fail miserably
anybody else have this problem?
this year is going to be different, as i plan on making a good portion of them.
made with love is going to utilize things i already have on hand (or can find at a thrift store), so i'm buying as little as possible.
thus, affording me the option to make and give more gifts than i usually do---and spend way less!
who doesn't love a handmade gift over a pot or pan any day?
(i'm waiving my hand over here!)

hopefully you can be inspired by made with love mondays...to either make the same gift, or to go hunt around that old closet that has lots of dust caked goodies that can be turned into something sweet and fantastic.

our first DIY is a hanging monogrammed frame:
supplies you will need are:
old frame (any size)
spray paint (totally optional, you may like the way the old frame looks)
card stock
stamps or alphabet stickers
twine or any other ribbon
hot glue gun

here's your old frame (this was passed onto me by a woman i know here, so i already had it lying around).
the spray paint color i chose was aqua.
spray paint that bad boy.
then you will need to cut your card stock down to the size of your frame.
i lightly traced the circle so that i knew where to put the letter on the paper (i glued the letter on, BEFORE, i glued the card stock to the frame, just in case i made a mistake).
and yes, i am using my left hand (i'm right handed) so that i could capture this on camera...which is why my thumb looks so awkward.
find a letter to use...you can stamp one, or even draw one.
i used some old scrapbooking letters i had lying around.
i stuck the letter on, using pop dots, to give it some added dimension.
before gluing it to the frame, i drew dots all around the inside of the traced circle.
then, i erased the pencil line.
next step is to put a dab of hot glue onto all the corners of the frame...
then glue your card stock to the frame!
add some ribbon or twine, and voila!
you have a hanging frame!
super simple and totally cute...and cost me nothing cause i had all the supplies on hand!
i'm thinking this would make a great hostess gift for someone...or a teacher gift...
the great thing about this DIY is that you can change it in so many ways to suit your style.
use a bigger frame and spell some body's last name out.
don't add ribbon, but instead let it sit upright.
change the colors to suit the receiver of this gift.

hope this inspires you to start thinking about handmade gifts this year.
now i have 1 gift down...quite a bit more to go :)
have fun--and happy gift making!
next monday, a new DIY...
(if you make this, link up---i'd love to see your version!)

  20. That is my absolute favorite spray paint! Is it odd that I have a favorite spray paint? Anyway, I just sprayed a mirror frame, a business card holder, and magnet board frame, some peg board, and a whole bunch of other stuff with it over the weekend. Love!
