our littlest (for now) is turning 2 next week.
since hadley and him have such close birthdays, i decided to push his birthday party back a week, so we celebrated this past weekend with some friends.
having his party this weekend, with his birthday not until next week, thoroughly confused all of my children. they just can't understand why his birthday wasn't this weekend.
sorry kids. the things mama does to throw a party.
here's a few details from the par-tay, and it was a "you are my sunshine" themed gig.
the invite:
(i made this in photoshop elements)
the guest of honor:
his name sign---easy craft.
i just spray painted some paper doilies and then glued some cardboard letters onto them...and strung some of my favorite twine through, to hang.
a local friend has a cookie biz-ness, so i ordered some goodies from her:
my favorite part of the party has to be these cupcake toppers (free printables!) that a friend found for me on pinterest.
didn't they turn out so cute?
another easy craft:
spray painted mason jars and candlestick holders, glued together...holding pretty flowers.
a few more details:
my "you are my sunshine" painted board.
more spray painted jars and flowers.
party favors for the kids were 2 images i printed off (one was a sun, the other was a cloud) PLUS a yellow and gray crayon...all tied together in a cellophane bag. cute and easy. and it won't rot your teeth. (i'm not a fan of gobs of candy for party favors).
here is the little dude, waiting patiently, ready to be sung too:
he was super cute while we were singing...
and then, even got a little shy after we said "happy birthday to KOHEN"...
but then he perked right back up.
and enjoyed that cupcake.
and YAH for a family shot where we are all looking.
hallelujah, lord almighty.
oh, and do you see the room for one more?
right smack dab in the middle.
hope you enjoyed the sweet and simple party!

ReplyDeleteLove the party. What a wonderful job you did pulling the theme through in so many different ways. We actually did a sunshine themed party for our oldest's first birthday so it is especially neat for me to see it done from a different perspective.

ReplyDeleteAlso, I read your post from Friday. Can I say that to someone who is looking to adopt in a just a few short years, it has meant so much reading your posts about your little Elsa. It's so obvious that there is love for her. To say yes to her & her situation, you were already choosing to love. I think your journey to love is going to grow in the most beautiful way & I am so glad you are sharing it here. What an exciting adventure God has for you!!

ReplyDeleteHey Emily,
ReplyDeleteHow did you make the pennant banner on Kohen's invitation? I've been looking for a photoshop brush but haven't found one. I may try to make one myself in photoshop but I'm just not thinking it will look as nice or be as easy.
Thanks,
Lesley
