so, do you embrace the camera?
i am getting in the picture with my oldest this week.
you see, on friday, this happened:
that top tooth finally came out.
i was about to pull it out myself, while the manchild was sleeping, because it was so gnarly, all hanging there by a thread.
luckily, he lost it at school on friday, so i didn't have to deal with the drama that inevitably comes when that boy loses teeth.
i am a little sad though.
i mean, losing top teeth? that's like a passage into adulthood, right?
goodness gracious, send the boy to college, cause that's next i'm sure.
the next morning he informed us that the tooth fairy forgot to take his tooth and leave him a dollar. oooops! then he said "you can just give me a dollar and i'll give you my tooth."
sure, caedmon. that'll work.
---------------
i took these pictures to remember his toothless smile...
side note: these pictures were taken after caedmon spent the entire afternoon sitting in our driveway with his bag packed.
he was planning on running away because i'm "the meanest mom everrrrrrrrrr". his quote exactly.
but he didn't get very far.
these pictures were taken after he decided that he liked me again.
your turn, lovelies!
here's the nitty gritty on embrace the camera:
-if these guidelines aren't followed then your link will be deleted---ETC is not about promoting ourselves or our blogs so please don't use our link tool to do such a thing.-
1. take a picture of YOU with your kids, spouse, friends, etc. the point of embrace the camera is to get in front of the camera and to document a bit of yourself.
2. link up your POST, not your blog.
3. link back to our blog by a text link or using our button IN YOUR POST.
4. and lastly, have fun and visit each other!
leave each other lots of love---it's not easy to get in front of the camera---bravo to all of you who join us every week! your family will thank you for it one day :)

It is amazing how teeth, or the lack of one will change the look of our kids. He looks so grown! You are cute as always. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute. Love the last one! I'm digging your hair at this length!
ReplyDeleteThat last one is priceless! Hope your day is great!
ReplyDeleteawwwhh cute pictures!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE the toothless grin!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I don't think I had seen his new haircut yet either. What a handsome dude.
ReplyDeleteIt's early and I have an infant, so you know, I may not be the sharpest, but is Mr. Linky m.i.a.? I'm trying to link up but I don't see the link up.
The link up tool is there. Sometimes you have to hit refresh to see him.

I am in love with these pictures. You guys look so happy. Losing teeth and all, that is crazy!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh when I read that just before those pictures were taken he had his bags packed and was ready to runaway! haha. What fun photos with your oldest, when he decided you weren't that bad again! :)
ReplyDeleteFound him! Me and my internet are runnin' slow this morning. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAH! Baby teeth gone! My Mom got us tiny tooth pillows when we were kids (I still have mine). They're shaped like a giant tooth and have a tiny pocket in the back for the tooth to go! Congrats to him!
ReplyDeleteOh I soooooo pull my oldest's teeth in his sleep (especially if they are just hanging on by a thread). I don't want to have to deal with that drama! :)
ReplyDeleteI love a toothless grin!
ReplyDeletemy daughter had a similar day yesterday. she decided I was the meanest mom ever (aren't you relieved it's not you?!:) so I had her get out a piece of paper and list all my mean ways. she to got numbering pretty high but when she gave me the paper they all said: 1.nothing 2.nothing 3.nothing 4....and at the end, a note of apology. a sweet moment for this mean mom and her daughter! :)
ReplyDeletewe've all had those afternoon. im sure i had more than one. good thing he's so dang cute!
ReplyDeleteHi Emily! I am new to your blog and just love it. My mom, too, is absent in most pictures and Embrace the Camera is such a good idea. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeletehow adorable! He does already look so much older!
ReplyDeleteooh the dramas of being a kid. and having the worst mom ever. :)
You crack me up. And if you're the worst mom ever, I give quit. How do you like them apples? ;)
ReplyDeleteDid you cut.your.hair!??!??!?
ReplyDeleteGlad he decided to like you again, those are some cute photos. Hopefully that doesn't mean the trouble will start ;)
ReplyDelete"You can just give me a dollar" That's great. So are these pictures =)
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures even more knowing they were taken after he planned to run away! I think having your child attempt to run away is a marker that you're doing something right! I know I tried it more than once around his age... haha! ;) Congrats to Caedmon on losing his tooth!!
ReplyDeletegoodness gracious! when did he get so big?!
ReplyDeletei know.......the whole running away thing - classic. you'll be glad you documented that! sidenote: i preferred the former 'nitty gritty'.
ReplyDeleteSo cute. "Just give me a dollar..." LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures! Love the gap tooth smile of his;o) And the story of how he was angry before, lol!
ReplyDeletethis little guy cracks me up!
ReplyDeleteSo, you're the meanest mom ever. Now when my kids accuse me of being the meanest mom ever I can show them your picture and say, "No I'm not, she is." : )
ReplyDeleteWe never remember the money either. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt IS sad, isn't it? Maia started losing her teeth when she was 4 and lost the top ones last year, aged 5. None of her friends had lost a tooth until recently and that made it a little more traumatic. I'm glad Caedmon realised what an amazing mum he has!
ReplyDeleteWhat a precious little story about him "running away"! And also, adorable pictures as usual!
ReplyDeleteI spent about 2 years of my life missing that exact same tooth that he lost. :) I was cute. To other (grown up) people.
ReplyDeleteMeanest mommy ever??? How could he think that??
ReplyDeleteY'all are so cute :)
i love your "embrace the camera" posts. they are too special and sweet. :) have a great weekend, girlie.

love the goofy faces together--and the honesty. I'm so glad my kids aren't the only ones who sometimes think their mommy is mean! :)
ReplyDeleteJust found you. LOVE the idea of an embrace the camera Thursday!
ReplyDeleteToo many moms avoid the camera, pleading that they are too tired, no make up, they look bad, etc. I always respond that it is the YOU, the MOM, the WIFE, that your family loves, and that they want pictures of that woman they adore.
I hope many moms take your advice and just get out there!
that last photo is too cute!
ReplyDeletethank you for taking the moments to embrace the camera with your kiddos and setting the bar for us to do the same!
ReplyDeletewe will be welcoming y'all to texas with open arms! hope the transition season goes smoothly.
Precious pics! It was fun getting to chat with you this morning at church! Hope your trip to Kansas has been a good one.
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of him and his new smile! I also think the last one is my favorite!
