olive.

i was thinking today about where i was, one year ago.
elsa had been home for just about 2 weeks and i was soon going to find out that we were pregnant with sweet olive.
most of you know that olive was not planned in our books, but she was certainly planned by the lord.
he knew that sweet babe needed to be a part of our family.
and sometimes, when i am just mesmerized by her and her sweetness, i think "lord, you knew.  you knew i needed her...amongst the chaos that was engulfing our life, you knew she would be a piece of our puzzle."
and i am forever grateful for that piece.

in the bible, a dove brings noah an olive leaf, after the flood.  this represents peace, new life and a new beginning.
it's only fitting that she is our olive...bringing peace and restoration to our family like only a gift from the lord could do.
our life is certainly chaotic still (and will always be) but from the moment she was born, she has given me hope that the lord does promise good amidst the hard...we just have to choose to see it.
and let me tell you friends, i am daily trying to see it.

she is a bundle of goodness.

  20. my little Luke, babe #4, was not my plan. He was God's plan. And yes...another bright example of how our plan pales in comparison to that of our Lords!!!!!

I know exactly what you mean and how you feel...

and ya know, stubborn me...I still try to do things MY way.
    That never works. :-)

I want to steal Olive....she is more delicious than cheesecake.

  21. I found out 2 weeks after we received our referral for our son from Ethiopia that I was pregnant! Definitely a beautiful big surprise. 6 months after we brought our son home our daughter, Anna, was born. Her name means God is gracious and indeed she has been living proof of His graciousness to our family as we walk through His plans for us! You have a sweet looking crew.

  27. Oh Emily, she's such a sweetie! You're so blessed with all your lovely kids and they are blessed to have you and Mr Anderson. I can only start to imagine how tough it is to raise 6 kids (I'm still struggling with my 2), but you give everyone hope. The way you trust in God and put your feelings out there is an inspiration to all of us who follow this blog.

  36. I think I could eat her. She is that scrumptious. I think all that love that comes so easy with an infant would definitely help with the love that would flow around for all. Babies make us slow down and take stock in the simple things. I can totally see that. For a second, I am envious. ;)
