embrace the camera: 10/25/12

these days are fleeting.
i often feel overwhelmed with the task of raising children.  i find myself wishing away these early years, thinking to myself "if only they can all get to a certain age, then life will be easier."
when in reality, i know this isn't the case.
i know i will miss these days when they are gone...and they will be out of here, before we know it.
i will be yearning for the days of nursing my sweet babies, getting sloppy kisses from my toddlers, having my kids run up to give me a hug when they see me after school, eating like birds---because one day i will have 6 large kids to feed.  i should appreciate the picky eating while it lasts.

it's time to embrace the camera.  to capture a fleeting moment.  one that involves you too.
because your kids want to see you in pictures.  they want their memories and moments to involve you.

i encourage you to embrace the camera.  get out your camera, phone, whatever you have that can capture a memory, and hop in a picture today.  truly, you might not get another chance.

  1. Your photos are so precious!! I know exactly what you mean about sometimes wishing the time by and hurrying to a different stage. I really don't want that, but some days just get a little trying. I know it will fly by, so I need to just be thankful for each moment. :) Thanks for the link-up, have a blessed day! :)

  12. I remember a couple of years back I would tell myself that, and like you said, it changes completely from what we think it might be. As they get older, I think it's a little bit harder (in my opinion) although every stage is different. I now sit there and watch them as they grow every day and can't help but want to turn back time. I think every momma though feels the same. Your babies are so, so, cute!!

  16. Just got home from going on a nature walk (it's unseasonably warm here in MI today!) with the kids, and I had my 5 year old take some pictures of my daughter and me. It's always nerve-wracking handing over an expensive camera to him, but so worth it in the end. I love that you encourage this!

  19. Thanks for sharing! I can totally relate...I too often try to speed up life by wishing away the days till things are "easier" only to realize that time flies so fast without my help. Its all about enjoying those little moments :)

  23. Emily - I love your blog. I read this great article that hit home for me (I lost a mother and never want to be in pictures with my kids). It reminded me your message - embrace the camera.
